Picasso Linocuts @ The Cooper
Upon entering the exhibition space it’s clear that Picasso’s talent as one of the 20th centuries greatest artists only continued to develop throughout the later years of his life.
The exhibition centres around 2 main pieces acquired by the British Museum, Still Life under the Lamp, which makes use of playful shapes and pattern in bold, block colours, and the portrait Jaquelin Reading. This print portrays the last of Picasso’s muses, his second wife Jaqueline Roque who appears in enumerable pieces and across a range of media throughout this period, but this monochrome print showcasing Picasso’s varied use of print techniques is especially captivating.
A must-see next time you’re in the area.
